Should you know more about First Aid ?

Since our defibrillator was installed (in Pochin Street outside, the Co-op) we have accepted an offer from a resident to put on a brief explanation of basic first aid, including the use of the defibrillator.

This will take place on Thursday 3rd December at 6.30 pm in the Pavilion, Winston Avenue. Places are limited to the first 20, please telephone the Clerk to book your place.

The session will include the ABC approach, how to respond to an emergency, CPR, airway management, the recovery position, solo rescue, chest compressions, mouth to mouth resus and an AED Demonstration.

Note: The equipment in Pochin Street can only be used after calling 999. The Ambulance Service is aware of the locations of all public defibrillators and, when you have given your location, they will give you the code to open the cabinet. The equipment itself will guide you through the process. The kit will detect a heartbeat and will not work if a shock is not appropriate.

Are you ready for Christmas ?

This year, the Christmas Lights Switch-on will be held on Friday 4th December at 6.30 pm. The tree will again be on the bank outside the Heathcote Arms.

Santa will be paying an extra visit to the village on Christmas Eve, look out for his sleigh on Thursday 24th after 3.45 pm, he's starting from the War Memorial but might be found anywhere in the village !!!

Did you know Maureen Fowell ?

Maureen's life and fondness for Croft was commemorated by the planting of a tree in the Council's Cemetery in Huncote Road. Sadly the tree has since died and the Council would like to make contact with anyone who know Maureen or is in touch with any of her family, some of whom may be in New Zealand. Please contact the Clerk, Steve Blackburn, if you can help.

A tree planting scheme was agreed some years ago and all planned spaces are now used. It is not possible to accept further trees at present but the Council is considering a means of commemorating the departed with plaques, to be fixed to 'totem' pole near a designated tree.
