Croft Village Hall Feasibility Study

The Parish Council agreed to manage the Study by a Project Team consisting of Seven Members; three nominated by the Parish Council and four Parishioner members. Therefore applications are invited for the Four Parishioner Members of the Project Team. Please apply to the Parish Clerk if you are interested in the project and wish to contribute to this important project.

Affordable Housig Project

East Midlands Housing Association is holding a "Drop In Event" regarding their Planning Application for their proposed development of 7 dwellings off Broughton Road, Croft. The Event will take place at the Croft C.of E. Primary School on 19th January 2010 between 4.00 - 6.00pm

Affordable Housing Project

East Midlands Housing have submitted a Planning Application for a small development of seven properties on the the end of Broughton Road next to 60 Broughton Road. The development is to provide AFFORDABLE Housing FOR CROFT RESIDENTS. The development is made affordable by being allowed to be built on agricultural land known as COUNTRYSIDE which cannot otherwise be developed. The land between Brookes Avenue and the B4114 is COUNTRYSIDE and even if it was not designated as Countryside it still could not be developed because two fields are in a FLOOD PLAIN and the other field is blighted by the "Hazard Consultation Zone, British Gas Pipeline"

Your Voice, Your Choice

Do you have an idea for an exciting local project but need a boost? Are you a local resident looking to have your say on how funding is spent on local activities? Are you a representative of a local community group? If the answer to any of these questions is “YES!” this is the event for you!

We are offering residents and representatives of community groups from LFW, Thurlaston, Huncote, Potters Marston, Croft, Elmsthorpe, Stoney Stanton, Sapcote, Aston Flamville Sharnford and Wigston Parva, the opportunity to propose and vote on exciting, innovative local projects worthy of a share of £20,000. The Blaby South Community Workshop will be held on Monday 15th June, at the Thurlaston Village Hall and will begin at 5pm. Each proposal should be focused on either Children and Young People, Economic Stability or Vulnerable People.

Multi Use Games Facility

The Official Opening for the Multi Use Games facility has been set for the 25th April, commencing at 10.00am

The new facility is located on the Sports Ground, Winston Avenue, Croft

All Parishioners (young and old) are cordially invited.

Pochin Street - Traffic Congestion

Many residents of Pochin Street have complained about the traffic congestion on their road.
The Parish Council and Police Officers from the Leicestershire Constabulary have been working with residents, the Co-op, County Highways and Arriva Buses to attempt to resolve the traffic congestion. The discussions are at an early stage and any developments will be posted on this page.

Winston Avenue Car Park

The District Council has decided not to introduce Car Parking charges on the Winston Avenue Car Park. However a further review of Car Parks will be undertaken by Blaby D.C. to ensure that the Council are using their resources to their best advantage.

Multi-Use Games Area - Update
Multi-Use Games Area - Update

Great news! All of the exercise equipment has now supplied and installed. All that remains for the project to be completed is the Tennis Court & Ball Court to be lined out. It is expected that these works will be completed early next week. Following a Safety Inspection the site should be open to all Parishioners at the end of next week.

Winston Avenue Car Park

Parishioners may have read a recent article in the " Hinckley Times" regarding Blaby District Council's proposal to introduce Car Parking charges to a number of their Car Parks and Winston Avenue was included in the article. The Parish Council has received nothing from Blaby D.C.todate regarding their ongoing review.

Parishioners will be informed as soon as the Parish Council is aware of any future proposals from Blaby D.C.

Multi Use Games Area - Update
Multi Use Games Area - Update

The Contractor has experienced a major problem with the supply of the Exercise Equipment and this in turn has regrettably brought the project to a standstill. The Contractor is expected to install two of the items of Exercise Equipment week commencing 10th November. This will mean that the works will have been delayed by at least a month. However the whole project when completed will be a significant additional facility for the whole community.

Fun Park Fencing Project Phase 2

The fencing works commenced on Tuesday 28th and were completed by the end of the week.

The second phase of fencing completes the project and also greatly enhances the whole playground. The Parish Council wishes to thank FLAG for their funding which made this whole project possible.

Red Telephone Kiosk under threat - update

Blaby District Council has submitted an application to English Heritage to have the Telephone Kiosk listed. However BT would not guarantee not to remove the Kiosk after the 1st November deadline, merely on an application to English Heritage, therefore the Parish Council has been required to apply to adopt the kiosk to prevent it being removed by BT

Multi Games Area - Update

The works are proceeding and the project is taking shape. All the equipment has been installed except the four pieces of exercise equipment. The Council has upgraded the foot way to the MUGA and proposes to turf up to the MUGA on the remaining elevations.

The Tennis Court is due to be refurbished during this week.

Red Telephone kiosk under Treat

At the extra Ordinary Parish Council held on 25th September the Council agreed to support Blaby D.C.'s proposal to make an application to English Heritage to apply for "Listed Building Status" for the Hill Street telephone Kiosk. As a fall-back position if the Listed Building Status failed the Council agreed to "adopt" the Kiosk as an empty shell.
